Okolona homeowners face forcible yard clean-up

SUMMARY: The homeowners in Okolona, Mississippi were given a two to three-year notice to clean up their yard, which was filled with junk and debris. Code enforcement ordered the removal of at least 15 different vehicles from their yards. The property owners failed to comply with the ordinance, resulting in the vehicles being impounded at two different lots. The owners must pay towing fees and daily service fees before the vehicles can be released. The chief of police emphasized that the vehicles were a nuisance to the city and should have been properly stored or hidden by a fence.
