Oklahoma man convicted of rape, kidnapping in 1990 Rankin County case
SUMMARY: A 66-year-old man in Oklahoma has been given two life sentences for crimes committed over three decades ago. Daniel Ray Skaggs was indicted in April after DNA evidence collected in the 1990s matched his DNA. The case began in August 1990 when a woman named “Jane” was sexually assaulted and robbed by a man who emerged from the back of her van. The case went cold for 15 years until DNA from another similar case in Memphis was matched to Skaggs. Skaggs denied the allegations but was found guilty of rape and kidnapping and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.
