Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art

This past fall, has been given another new building that will be eye catching for tourists. It was once known for its funky old buildings and newer hotels and the area had a lot of new and interesting old history all in one place. This was one that was being built before hurricane and never was able to be completed. It was just completed this fall and will add some rich architecture to the area.

Key Takeaways:

  • Biloxi used to be the place of old hotels and other funky landmarks that were interesting.
  • It wasn’t a place where you would expect to find architecture, until recently when they built the museum.
  • the museum was a ways away from opening before hurricane Katrina, and now it is being rebuilt.

“”We began to think of the galleries as houses,” says Gehry. The result: a modern spin on traditional domestic architecture, with Gehry interpreting clapboard siding, metal roofs, and even shoofly belvederes with his signature twists and tugs.”
