‘Oh, Lord. Jesus, no’: Caretaker of inmate’s son heartbroken after baby in CPS custody
SUMMARY: A correctional officer in Louisiana was fired after taking care of an inmate’s child for two months. The mother was later reunited with the child but has now disappeared. The officer, Roberta Bell, bought the mother a phone to stay in touch with her parole officer, but their only communication has been through Facebook Messenger. Bell fears that the child will end up in the hands of Child Protection Services, as they have informed her that they have custody of the child and are looking for the mother. Despite having five grandchildren, Bell is willing to care for the child and his mother if given the opportunity.
