Nephew suspected in case of missing 73-year-old man, MPD says
SUMMARY: A 73-year-old Memphis man, Samuel Finny, has been missing for nearly two months, and police have named 36-year-old Christopher Collins, his nephew, as a suspect. Finny, who lived in a house in south Memphis, had been reported missing since August 1. His daughter, Carla Jackson, claims Collins wanted Finny to sell the home for financial gain. Nine days after Finny’s disappearance, his bank card was reportedly used by Collins. The situation escalated with a fire at the home, heightening the family‘s concerns. Collins remains a suspect, but no arrests have been made yet.

1 dead, at least 9 injured after shooting reported near TSU during homecoming
SUMMARY: A weekend celebration for Tennessee State University (TSU) homecoming turned tragic when gunfire erupted, killing one person and injuring nine others. The shooting occurred around 5:00 PM at the intersection of Jefferson Street and 27th Avenue North, just 20 minutes after a parade ended. Witnesses described chaos, with individuals using belts as tourniquets amidst the panic. The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking surveillance footage from nearby areas. Nashville police officers and first responders were called to a Saturday evening shooting near Tennessee State University that killed one person and injured at least nine others.

2 critically injured in Lawrence County crash, vehicle fire
SUMMARY: A head-on crash in Lawrence County last night resulted in two individuals being hospitalized.
