MSU’s famous Maroon Band takes on other bands in Starkville
SUMMARY: At Mississippi State University, football season is underway alongside activities by “The Famous Maroon Band,” which boasts a rich history of 122 years. The band’s associate director, Craig Aarhus, recently briefed local business and community leaders on its various ensembles, including four concert bands and a jazz band. The band, the largest university band in Mississippi, primarily recruits students from the state and nearby regions, although it welcomes members from across the nation. Recently, Aarhus and current band members participated in the Collegiate Mass Band during the 80th D-Day anniversary commemoration.
