The focus for this season is on the pitching staff, with coach Chris Lemonis expressing confidence in their abilities. The softball team is also aiming for improvement after a disappointing 2023 campaign, with coach Samantha Ricketts emphasizing the need for teaching and blending senior and underclassmen players. Both teams are determined to prove the doubters wrong as they begin their seasons in February.
The Mississippi State baseball and softball programs return to the diamond in a couple weeks. Our Bradley Davis gives us a preview of both teams during their media day event in Starkville.

SUMMARY: Crime can still impact a city’s reputation. As the new school year begins across the metro area, 16 WAPT interviewed three superintendents: Dr. Mitchell Shears, Dr. Errick Greene, and Chris Chism, who lead the Hinds, Jackson, and Pearl school districts. They discussed plans to support teachers and students, especially regarding the use of electronics. While not banning devices outright, the districts emphasize purposeful use in a digital society and integrate new technologies, including artificial intelligence, into learning. The focus also includes preparing students for college and the workforce through internships and supporting teachers to enhance education and community investment.
