His career also included roles with the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee, USC, FAU, and Ole Miss, often alongside his son, Lane. Lane Kiffin paid tribute to his father, calling him his hero. Monte was admired for his significant contributions to football.

Monte Kiffin, the legendary football coach and father of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, had died. Ole Miss announced his passing on Thursday evening saying he was surrounded by family and friends in Oxford at the time of his passing. Monte is regarded as one of the greatest defensive minds in football. He spearheaded the Tampa 2 defense that propelled the Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl. He is in the Tampa Bay Ring of Honor. After his long pro coaching career his served as a defensive assistant coach and analysts on Lane’s staff at FAU and Ole Miss. He was the defensive coordinator at Tennessee in 2009 and an assistant coach during Lane’s tenure at USC. Monte Kiffin was 84 years old.

Storms possible for parts of Father’s Day
