Police say “porch pirates” were connected to nationwide crime ring
SUMMARY: Two suspects were arrested in Edmond, Oklahoma, linked to a nationwide theft ring specializing in stealing expensive electronics totaling nearly $7 million. Following a tip-off, police conducted a sting operation, capturing the suspects as they attempted to steal delivered iPhones. A brief chase ensued, resulting in the apprehension of one suspect immediately and the second later. Six additional arrests were made on the same day, with all suspects likely coming from out of town. Authorities caution residents to be vigilant with online deliveries, especially as the holiday season approaches, which tends to see an uptick in such thefts.
