Mississippi’s education ranking continues to improve

SUMMARY: Mississippi’s education ranking has significantly improved, reaching 30th in the nation as per the 2024 Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Kids Count Data Book, marking the highest ever for the state. This is a notable rise from its 48th position a decade ago and 32nd last year. The KIDS COUNT® rankings evaluate states based on pre-K enrollment, fourth-grade reading skills, eighth-grade math proficiency, and high school graduation rates.
