Mississippi to receive $547K in Blackbaud ransomware settlement

Gun used in Emmett Till murder now on display at Two Mississippi Museums
SUMMARY: Seventy years after Emmett Till’s 1955 murder, the Mississippi Department of Archives and History acquired the gun used in the killing. Owned by J.W. Milam, who along with Roy Bryant murdered Till after false accusations by Carolyn Bryant, the gun and holster are now displayed at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. The artifacts, donated by an unrelated family, help educate visitors on Till’s story and its impact on the civil rights movement. Till’s family expressed hope for more items to surface. The FBI reopened the case in 2004 but lacked jurisdiction. Till’s open-casket funeral galvanized racial equity efforts nationwide.
