In 2023, the GOP-led legislature expanded Capitol Police jurisdiction and established an inferior court to handle cases. Reeves highlighted increased police hiring and new judicial appointments, noting a decline in homicides in 2025 and confidence in the city’s new mayor. He remains open to deploying troops if needed.
