SUMMARY: Enrollment at Mississippi’s public universities for the fall 2023 semester has increased by 1.8% compared to the previous year. This is partially attributed to record-breaking freshman classes at Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Ole Miss welcomed over 5,000 students, marking the largest incoming class in the school’s history. Mississippi State also set a record with over 3,700 incoming freshmen. Other universities in the state, such as Mississippi Valley State and Delta State, also experienced higher enrollment. The increase in enrollment is seen as a positive sign for the state’s economy and workforce.
