Mississippi police officer fatally shot, 2 others wounded by gunfire at traffic checkpoint: ‘Heroes in blue’
SUMMARY: Trooper Alec Kalis rescued a dog named Miley from train tracks near the Ohio State Fairgrounds, returning her safely to her owners. Meanwhile, tragedy struck a small town in Mississippi where Patrolman Troy Floyd of the Summit Police Department was killed in a shooting during a traffic checkpoint. Two other officers, Tyler Harvey and Joey Roberts, were injured but survived. Governor Tate Reeves expressed condolences and emphasized the bravery of law enforcement. The suspected shooter was killed, and the incident is under investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Summit has a population of about 1,460 residents.
