Mississippi guardsman still recovering from heat stroke

SUMMARY: An 18-year-old Mississippi National Guardsman suffered a severe heat stroke during a drill at Camp Shelby and is still recovering. Colby Maury-Rice’s father, Eddie Dockery, said his son is learning to walk and speak again after being in a coma for 57 days. Doctors initially did not believe Rice would survive. He is currently in the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans and his family hopes to bring him home in the coming weeks for further rehabilitation. A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover Rice’s medical expenses. His father attributes his son’s recovery to the power of prayer, God’s love, and faith.
