Mississippi eligible to receive $300K to update abandoned mine land inventories

This funding is aimed at updating abandoned mine land inventories throughout the state and across 20 other states and tribal lands. Such funds will enhance data quality and consistency in the Abandoned Mine Land Inventory System (e-AMLIS), which states and tribes use to communicate information regarding the location, problem types, extent of impacts, and reclamation costs of abandoned mine lands. The initiative aligns with President Biden’s environmental plans to address pollution and clean up these hazardous sites effectively.

SUMMARY: Ole Miss specialist Lucas Carneiro was named to the 2025 Lou Groza Award preseason watch list, recognizing the nation’s top college placekicker. A transfer from Western Kentucky, Carneiro impressed in his sophomore season after moving from Bowling Green to Ole Miss, earning Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year honors. He completed 18 of 19 field goals, including a perfect 6-for-6 from 50+ yards, and converted all 41 extra points. His 94.7% field goal rate ranks second among returning FBS kickers.
