Mississippi Aquarium takes in Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle
NOAA Fisheries and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services chose the Mississippi Aquarium as a recipient of an adult non-releasable Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle.
This new permanent resident was hatched from eggs collected in the wild in 1979 where she spent her life at the Cayman Turtle Centre as part of an experimental breeding program which has since been discontinued.
The aquarium’s turtle is just one of ten remaining of the original hatchling group.
She, along with the other nine turtles, flew to Sea World in Orlando in April where they received care during a 90-day…

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting. James, 53, remains at large and is wanted for murder and other charges. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Gulfport Police or Crime Stoppers.
