Mike Leach eligible for hall of fame induction after criteria altered
SUMMARY: College football legend Mike Leach is now eligible for the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame after the minimum winning percentage for coaches was lowered from .600 to .595. Leach, who passed away in 2022 at 61, finished with a 156-107 record (59.7%), easily meeting other criteria such as 10 seasons and 100 games coached. Known as “The Pirate,” he won multiple Coach of the Year awards and was a key innovator of the air raid offense. The change takes effect with the 2027 ballot, where Leach is expected to be a strong posthumous candidate.

MEMA encourages residents to prepare for incoming hurricane season
SUMMARY: Forecasters predict an above-normal 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, with up to 19 named storms and four major hurricanes. Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) urges residents to prepare by creating family emergency plans, learning evacuation routes, and assembling three to five-day disaster supply kits, including flashlights, food, water, medicine, and important documents. The Gulf Coast has a 33% chance of a major hurricane landfall, higher than the 27% average. As the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches, MEMA director Stephen McCraney stresses the importance of preparedness, reminding residents that a single hurricane can cause devastating impacts and urges smart choices to stay safe.
