SUMMARY: Meridian High’s boys and girls teams played for a chance to move on to the state semi-finals at the Big House. The girls’ teams from Quitman and Choctaw Central also advanced, while Newton High and Lawrence County suffered losses. In the upcoming semi-finals, Choctaw Central will face Morton, and Quitman will play Tishomingo County. Neshoba Central’s Lady Rockets secured a spot at the Big House and will face Hancock Lady Hawks, who have a 30-1 overall record. The winners will compete in the state championship next Saturday.

A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi.
