SUMMARY: As summer approaches, South Mississippi faces hot, humid conditions with scattered afternoon and evening storms expected today and tomorrow. A strong high-pressure ridge will move into the eastern U.S., reducing rain chances and pushing temperatures into the low to mid-90s, with inland areas possibly reaching mid to upper 90s. Heat index values may rise to 100-110°, increasing heat-related risks, so outdoor plans should include hydration and cooling options. The Atlantic hurricane season remains quiet with no expected tropical systems in the next week, while Hurricane Eric recently made landfall in southern Mexico. Overall, summer heat and humidity dominate the forecast.
