Mass re-testing of Mississippi medical cannabis products underway
SUMMARY: The Mississippi State Department of Health has placed medical cannabis products on administrative hold due to concerns about pesticide testing at a lab in Natchez. Retesting of the products has begun, and MSDH officials anticipate cleared products to be back on dispensary shelves soon. The re-testing process is expected to take two to three weeks, with cleared batches of products being released each Friday. Patient safety is the top priority, and the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program is covering the cost for all re-testing. Patients can contact dispensaries to see what products are available.

NOAA predicts very active hurricane season, issues highest-ever May forecast
SUMMARY: NOAA forecasts a highly active 2024 hurricane season with an 85% chance of above-average activity, predicting 17-25 named storms, 8-13 hurricanes, and 4-7 major hurricanes. Contributing factors include record warm ocean temperatures in the Tropical Atlantic and a transition from El Niño to La Niña, favoring storm development. Historically, active seasons increase storm landfall likelihood in the U.S. Other agencies, including Colorado State University, the European ECMWF, and the UK Meteorology Service, also predict a busy season. Although the Atlantic Basin hasn't seen any named storms early, activity is expected to rise in early June, emphasizing early preparation.
