Man pleads guilty to 2022 deadly beating outside Tupelo restaurant

SUMMARY: A man, Timothy Turner, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for beating Casey Cooper to death outside a bar in West Tupelo. The incident occurred in April 2022 following an argument, during which Turner knocked Cooper to the ground and struck him 36 times, also slamming his head into the concrete multiple times. Initially indicted for first-degree murder, Turner was sentenced by Circuit Judge Paul Funderburg to 30 years in prison, followed by 5 years of probation. The plea came over two years after the crime.

The man accused of beating another man to death outside a Tupelo restaurant in 2022 will spend 30 years in prison.
