Making Spirits Bright with United Way

www.youtube.com – WLOX News – 2023-11-14 12:43:42

SUMMARY: Throughout the year, agencies work to uplift spirits, and today, the spotlight shifts to one under the United Way of Jackson and George Counties. Amber Spradley introduces us to the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Gautier, where patients are never billed and all services are provided voluntarily by doctors, nurses, and practitioners. Shelia Jenkins, a retired police detective and pastor, now serves as the president board for Volunteers in Medicine Gautier. She appreciates the clinic’s ability to offer free medical care to the uninsured community, a service beyond the mere existence of a building. The clinic treats various conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes, largely thanks to monetary donations and a dedicated volunteer team. Dr. Robert Holbert, the medical director, finds his work extremely rewarding and emphasizes that their medical partnerships enable them to operate successfully without worrying about costs.

This holiday season, we’re focusing on organizations giving back to the community throughout the year, that are Making Spirits Bright.
