SUMMARY: Currently, the weather in Chicago is calm and serene with light winds in January. However, a significant wintry storm is approaching with snow, strong winds, and subzero temperatures. The 9.6 million residents in the metro area will be affected, as gusts of up to 30-40 mph are expected. The Weather Channel’s Reynolds Wolf warns that the impending cold blast will likely paralyze much of the region as it progresses. The combination of snow and powerful winds will lead to subzero wind chills, making the situation very dangerous and uncomfortable for the people in the area.
