SUMMARY: The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is expected to recommend lowering the routine pneumococcal vaccination age from 65 to 50, aiming to enhance public health and protect older adults from serious lung infections. Health experts advocate this change to increase awareness and vaccination rates, ultimately saving lives. The recommendation could also help restore public trust in health authorities after vaccine controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
