Local baseball standout enters the portal, Kellum Clark drafted

SUMMARY: Former Mass Central baseball standout, Braden Montgomery, who is currently a sophomore at Stanford, has entered the transfer portal in search of a new team. Montgomery was a significant player for Stanford’s program, which has made it to Omaha in the past few seasons. He was named the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year and achieved Second Team All-American and First Team All Pac 12 status this season. Montgomery was both a pitcher and hitter in high school and is considered one of the top prospects for 2024. Additionally, Mississippi State outfielder Kellum Clark and Jonathan Rogers from Tupelo High School were selected in the 20th round of the MLB draft.

Stanford sophomore and former Madison Central Jaguar Braden Montgomery has entered the transfer portal after two great seasons at Stanford. The All-American be a highly sought after player in the portal. And on the last day of the MLB Draft Brandon product and MSU junior outfielder Kellum Clark was drafted in the 20th round by the New York Mets.

SUMMARY: Parts of the region could see storms on Father’s Day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s. Afternoon storms may bring gusty winds and hail, though severe weather is not expected. Monday follows a similar pattern with scattered afternoon storms. A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi. The week ahead will remain hot and humid, with increasingly oppressive heat expected through the weekend. Stay weather-aware and hydrated amid the steamy conditions.
