JXN Water crews prepared to respond to cold weather issues
SUMMARY: Jackson, Mississippi is preparing for freezing temperatures next week, and JXN Water officials are advising customers to be prepared. The water treatment facility and fuel plant are being winterized ahead of time. The water system has improved in recent years, and the main challenge has been staffing, which has been addressed this winter. There have been no E. coli found in the water. Neighbors are encouraged to let their faucets drip to prevent frozen pipes. The number of crews available to deal with pipe breaks has increased from two and a half to 14, and crews are prepared to stay overnight at plants in case of an emergency.
