SUMMARY: A Lanier High School student has been arrested and accused of making a threat on social media against the school. The student, who is a minor, is charged with making a terroristic threat and now faces federal prosecution. This arrest comes after social media threats were made to two other schools in Jackson. JPD officers have been at Forest Hill to assist campus enforcement to keep students, teachers, and staff safe and relieve fears in the community. Police Chief Joseph Wade said worried parents have reached out to him about the threats, including one that mentioned a specific time of day when something would happen. There will be a heavy police presence at Jim Hill High School as someone also made a similar threat for Thursday. Chief Wade wants everyone to know that JPD is not taking lightly what he calls a “terrorist act.”
