SUMMARY: Mayor Lumumba has stated that the R-F-P process for the city is still ongoing, despite an emergency contract with Richard’s Disposal expiring in March. Richard’s Disposal is currently suing the city for alleged contract violations, which the mayor says complicates the process. This could result in the city having to pay higher prices for garbage contracts and potentially facing the consequences of losing the lawsuit and the new vendor. The R-F-P states that if a vendor is selected, its contract could be terminated based on the ruling of Richard’s lawsuit. The mayor emphasizes the need to protect the city and its residents from the potential risks and costs involved.
