Jackson man faces over 2 years in prison for bank fraud, identity theft
SUMMARY: Anthony Craig Myrick, a 45-year-old from Jackson, was sentenced to over two years in prison for bank fraud using counterfeit checks and another person’s identity. Myrick cooperated with Ronald Gardner to deposit fake $500 checks at various BankPlus branches and withdrew money before the fraud was detected. He must repay BankPlus as part of his sentence. Indicted by a grand jury in August, Myrick pleaded guilty in October 2023, and Gardner in February 2024. Gardner awaits sentencing, facing up to 32 years. The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office.

SUMMARY: Ole Miss linebacker Tyler Banks has been named the 2025 Chucky Mullins Courage Award winner and will wear the No. 38 jersey in honor of Mullins. Banks, a senior from Virginia and three-year letterwinner, is the 35th recipient of the award, which honors Mullins, who was paralyzed during a 1989 game and passed away in 1991. Head coach Lane Kiffin praised Banks for his perseverance, leadership, and dedication on and off the field. Banks has played in all 39 games since 2022, mainly on special teams, and serves on the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The award recognizes courage and determination.
