Jackson hosts 2023 National Night Out

SUMMARY: The Jackson Police Department, Jackson Fire Department, and the mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, celebrated National Night Out by visiting communities across the city. The goal of the national campaign is to build and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. The leaders made nearly a dozen stops, including neighborhoods, senior living communities, and Tougaloo College. Chief Joseph Wade, the city’s new police chief, expressed the importance of the event as a way to meet and be inspired by the community. He also emphasized the need for community support and prayers for the police department. Since Chief Wade took over four months ago, 30 officers have been sworn in, and building up the department is one of his top priorities.
