Jackson City Council to review bids on garbage collection

SUMMARY: The city of Jackson needs to decide on a new garbage collection company for the next 6 years. They have just a few months to make a decision, and city leaders are aiming to do so in a less combative manner for the benefit of the citizens. There are only two companies that have submitted bids, with Richard’s Disposal being one of them. However, there is ongoing litigation regarding their bid. The city council is hopeful to make a decision before the end of March, taking into consideration the feedback from constituents. Residents are hoping for a smooth process this time, after the challenges faced last year.

A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi.
