It’s almost time for classes to start at Lowndes County schools

SUMMARY: Some high school students in the Lowndes County School District in Mississippi will be returning to the classroom a week earlier for the 2023-2024 school year. The district adopted a modified schedule in which classes will start on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Superintendent Sam Allison believes that starting earlier and extending the school year will benefit students. The district will assess the success of the new calendar during the October break. If the benefits are not seen, they may revert back to the old schedule. The main goal is to better serve the students and the community.
