The construction of the Laurel-Jones County Welcome Center is underway and city leaders are looking to incorporate nearly one hundred years of housing development. Trey Howard, the executive director of the Laurel Housing Authority, took a look inside the center for a peek at what tourists and residents can expect to see later this year. The center aims to provide information and education about the city’s historical effect, housing, and other aspects. Visitors can also travel on to explore more of the area.

A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi.
