‘I should have shot it out’: Felon’s rampage ends in 25-year sentence

www.youtube.com – FOX 2 St. Louis – 2025-06-23 21:42:28

SUMMARY: In December 2021, felon Darnell Clemons sparked a violent rampage captured on video, ending with a 25-year federal sentence. Linked to about 10 carjackings since July 2021, Clemons threatened law enforcement and engaged in a shootout inside a Florissant Circle K, nearly hitting a first-day clerk. The bullet exploded an aerosol can, injuring the clerk, who left her job immediately. Clemons’ criminal history includes multiple arrests for resisting arrest and probation violations. Despite officers’ efforts, Clemons threatened to “shoot it out.” After a guilty plea on carjacking and firearm charges, the judge sentenced him for public safety risks.

A previously convicted felon appeared in federal court on Monday to be sentenced for a violent crime spree that left victims shaken and an innocent store clerk nearly struck by gunfire.

That close call was captured on video obtained by FOX 2 News, along with the chilling words from the defendant when he was caught.
