SUMMARY: Florida is on high alert as Hurricane Milton approaches landfall, which is expected to occur within hours near Tampa Bay or Sarasota. Governor Ron DeSantis has reported storm surge warnings across the state’s west coast, with significant impacts already felt, including at least 10 tornadoes in south-central Florida. President Biden urged residents to find shelter as evacuation opportunities close. Meteorologist Chris Hulan noted that Milton is currently about 50 miles from Sarasota and moving north-northeast at 15 mph. The storm is forecasted to weaken after landfall tonight but will affect parts of Central Florida and the Georgia coastline with tropical storm warnings in place.
