Houston Upper Elementary School uses incentive store as a motivational tool

SUMMARY: Four young students in Houston are participating in a Santa shop at their Upper Elementary School to learn leadership skills and improve their attitudes towards learning. The Santa shop is an incentive store where students can buy items with “topper bucks” earned for positive behavior and character development. Students can use the topper bucks to purchase gifts for their family, friends, and teachers. The topper bucks are given out by teachers, custodians, principals, and anyone else in the school who recognizes students for doing something right or making improvements. This program aims to reward and encourage positive behavior and character development in students.

Students are able to buy various items if they’ve demonstrated good performance inside and outside of the classroom.
