First-Ever Agricultural Center To Be Built | October 12, 2024 | News 19 at 6 p.m. Saturday Evening
SUMMARY: Morgan County is set to enhance career education in agriculture with the establishment of its first Agricultural Center, supported by a $4 million donation from the state. This initiative aims to offer students opportunities to explore careers in farming, agribusiness, research, and food science. Currently, there are limited resources for local youth to engage in agricultural activities, such as FFA programs. The new facility will provide a dedicated space for students to learn about various aspects of agriculture and foster their interest in related careers, marking a significant development for the county.
Morgan County will soon teach students in the district about careers in farming.

Cool Overnight and a Sunny Sunday, Even Cooler Air on the Way: Saturday Evening Forecast 10/12/2024
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner reports that the National Hurricane Center has downgraded the potential for development of a system off Africa to 20%, due to unfavorable conditions. The Gulf Coast remains quiet with cool morning temperatures in the low 50s, rising to mid 80s by afternoon. Tonight, temperatures will drop to the mid to upper 50s. Sunshine is expected throughout the week with temperatures around 90ยฐF on Monday. A cold front will bring cooler weather by Thursday and Friday with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s, but no rain is anticipated, as the region continues to experience drought conditions.
After a cool start, it was a warm afternoon with sunny skies. We will stay clear into tonight with lows dropping back into the mid- to upper-50’s. High pressure will be in control, so abundant sunshine will continue into Sunday. Highs will jump back into the mid-80’s. We will be even warmer on Monday, and slightly higher moisture ahead of a cold front will bring a few clouds. Highs will be well above average sitting closer to 90ยฐ. Later in the day Monday and into Tuesday, that front will pass through the News 5 area bringing more dry and even cooler air. Highs will fall into the 70’s by Wednesday making it feel unseasonably cool, and lows will drop into the 40’s for some spots into Thursday morning. As high pressure returns, sunny skies will persist for much of next week. In the tropics, Tropical Storm Leslie is quickly moving to the northeast in the northern Atlantic away from the US. There is one more area off the west coast of Africa with a medium chance of development, but it does not pose a threat to the US.
