Hinds County polls can remain open until 8 p.m.
SUMMARY: A judge in Hinds County, Mississippi issued an emergency order to keep polling precincts open until 8:00 p.m. CT on the General Election day. Another judge ordered four polling places to extend voting until 9:00 p.m. CT. This decision was made after political parties and a nonpartisan group petitioned for extra voting time due to issues in the precincts, including running out of ballots. The Secretary of State’s Office is aware of the ballot issues. Hinds County officials expressed frustration with the Election Commission for not having enough ballots for such an important election. In Mississippi, polls are typically open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT.
