First Alert: Hot and humid with scattered storms as Summer officially approaches (06/19/2025)
SUMMARY: As summer approaches, South Mississippi faces hot, humid conditions with scattered afternoon and evening storms expected today and tomorrow. A strong high-pressure ridge will move into the eastern U.S., reducing rain chances and pushing temperatures into the low to mid-90s, with inland areas possibly reaching mid to upper 90s. Heat index values may rise to 100-110°, increasing heat-related risks, so outdoor plans should include hydration and cooling options. Overall, summer heat and humidity dominate the forecast.
