Gulfport native Jonathan Holder embracing fresh start
Once a young kid out of Gulfport chasing his big league dreams over the years, Jonathan Holder has grown into a veteran pitcher that’s made a lengthy professional career for himself.
However, after a pair of injuries, the former Admiral now on his third team in four years, finally looking forward to a fresh start with a clean bill of health.

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting.
