Ole Miss remains out of College Football Playoff field with No. 13 ranking
SUMMARY: Ole Miss is unlikely to make the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, despite a strong season labeled “The Last Dance” by players, coaches, and fans. After early losses to Kentucky and LSU, the Rebels bounced back with a significant win over Georgia but faltered against Florida, hurting their playoff hopes. Despite a victory over Mississippi State, Ole Miss couldn’t surpass other teams in the playoff race. The selection committee considered Ole Miss, Alabama, and South Carolina, with Ole Miss holding an advantage after dominating South Carolina earlier. However, the Rebels’ playoff chances remain slim, though they are bowl-eligible.
