Four Mississippi schools named National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2022
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – On Friday, four Mississippi schools were named as National Blue Ribbons Schools for 2022 by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.
The recognition is based on a school's overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
The Mississippi schools named as National Blue Ribbon Schools were:
Florence Elementary School, Rankin County School DistrictHayes Cooper Center, Cleveland School DistrictPetal High School, Petal School DistrictOak Grove Lower Elementary School, Lamar County School District

“National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as exceptional models for improving student outcomes, closing achievement gaps and implementing effective teaching methods,” said Dr. Kim Benton, state superintendent of education, interim. “I congratulate Mississippi's 2022 honorees, including all teachers, administrators, and community stakeholders, who collectively invest in students' overall success.”

Nettleton hires Houston DC Kyle Bond as next head football coach
SUMMARY: Nettleton High School has hired Kyle Bond as its new head football coach. With over a decade of coaching experience, Bond started at Kossuth High School in 2012 and has since worked at Tupelo and Booneville, where he led the team to an undefeated regular season and division championship in 2018. Bond spent the last four seasons as the defensive coordinator at Houston. He takes over from John Ketih, who left to become an assistant principal at New Albany Middle School. Bond's coaching experience and success at Houston make him a promising addition to the Nettleton football program.
