Former Clarksdale Public Utilities cashier pleads guilty to embezzlement
SUMMARY: Shoral Bounds, the former lead cashier for Clarksdale Public Utilities, has pleaded guilty to embezzlement. Bounds manipulated the computer system to show that her daily collections were less than what she actually collected from customers. She has been ordered to pay $115,981.33 in restitution and other court fees. State Auditor Shad White expressed gratitude to investigators and emphasized zero tolerance for theft of public funds in Mississippi. Bounds is now convicted of a felony offense and will be barred from handling public money in the future. Suspected fraud can be reported to the Auditor’s Office online or by phone.
