The county government, which has controlled OCH since 1973, determined that selling the hospital was necessary due to financial challenges and residents seeking care at other hospitals. The sale is expected to finalize by summer or early fall. Baptist Memorial Health Care, based in Memphis, owns multiple hospitals in Mississippi.
