Feel Good Friday: K9 competes for top prize, Amory students surprise principal and more

SUMMARY: As we head into the weekend, K9 law enforcement teams in Northeast Mississippi compete to see who is top dog. Over 30 K9 teams certified their partners in a 3-day event, learning new techniques and competing in scenario competitions. In other news, a principal at West Amory Elementary School received a special birthday surprise from students and staff. Additionally, Mississippi’s state teaching program celebrated 19 teachers receiving national board certification. Eighth-grade students at Plannersville Pirates also had a special Adventure before spring break with donations and grants making the trip possible. MSU and Ole Miss also prepare for a rematch in the glass recycling Egg Bowl for a good cause.

SUMMARY: Parts of the region could see storms on Father’s Day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s. A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi.
