Federal fraud trial continues against J5 owners

SUMMARY: Two Columbus businessmen, Jabari Edwards and Antwann Richardson, are facing trial for bilking the government out of Paycheck Protection Program money. They have been indicted on charges of fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. The men are accused of securing PPP loans using false information for their company, J5 GBL, and then moving the money through various accounts for political contributions, cash payments to family and friends, charitable donations, and real estate transactions. The trial is ongoing in federal court in Oxford, with jury selection underway. It is unclear how long the trial will last.
