Ex-Hernando school resource officer arrested on rape, battery charges
SUMMARY: Former school resource officer Hosie Porter has been arrested in Hernando, Mississippi, on charges of rape and sexual battery, according to District Attorney Matthew Barton. Porter surrendered to authorities after resigning from the police department following an incident last week involving an adult, with no evidence of harm to children. The Hernando Police learned of the accusation on September 24 and suspended Porter until his resignation. Mayor Chip Johnson expressed distress over the situation, acknowledging the community’s concerns and calling for patience as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation conducts its inquiry.
