Laurel firefighters to test hydrants beginning in April
SUMMARY: will be conducted on the city's fire hydrants Monday through Friday from 7 am to 2 pm. Fire Chief Leo Brown Jr. advises that residents may notice discoloration in their water during this time, but it is normal. Running the water for 30 seconds should clear it out. Total Solar Eclipse By The Numbers
SUMMARY: The 2024 total solar eclipse will pass through the United States from the Mexican border with Texas to Maine, covering 13 states in a path 2,142 miles long and an average of 5 miles wide. There will be 31.6 million people living in the path of totality and 149.5 million people within 200 miles of it. Those outside the path will still see a partial eclipse. Radar Base, Texas will experience the longest totality at 4 minutes 27 seconds. Carbondale, Illinois will have a second eclipse in less than 7 years, with the 2024 eclipse having a 68% longer duration of totality.
The total solar eclipse is approaching fast. It happens April 8th, cutting a path from Texas to Maine. More than twice as many people are in its path compared to the 2017 total solar eclipse.
