Salmonella outbreak: Cucumber products sold at Mississippi stores recalled
SUMMARY: A multistate salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers grown by Florida-based Bedner Growers has led to recalls at Walmart, Kroger, Roundy’s, and Weis Market stores. The outbreak spans 15 states with 26 reported illnesses and nine hospitalizations. Bedner Growers recalled cucumbers sold at its Florida locations from April 29 to May 14. Walmart voluntarily recalled fresh-cut cucumber slices sold in Texas. Additionally, various fresh-cut cucumber items and sushi containing cucumbers sold under SNOWFRUIT and SNOWFOX labels have been recalled in 16 states. Consumers are urged to discard recalled products and sanitize surfaces. No illnesses have been reported from these recalled packaged items. Salmonella causes gastrointestinal illness and can be severe in vulnerable populations.

Music talent agent among dead after jet crashes into San Diego neighborhood
SUMMARY: A private jet carrying music talent agent Dave Shapiro and five others crashed into a San Diego Navy-owned neighborhood in foggy weather, killing those on board and sparking a massive fire. The 1985 Cessna struck power lines and slammed into a home, destroying it and damaging nearby houses and vehicles. Residents were evacuated, and eight people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Shapiro, co-founder of Sound Talent Group, and two employees died in the crash. The NTSB is investigating. The flight originated from New Jersey with a stop in Kansas, aiming for Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport. Thick fog likely contributed, complicating the pilot’s landing approach.
